About Mersea Island Holiday Park
There’s no better sense of getting away from it than an island holiday. Located just off the coast of Essex, and easily accessible, Mearsea Island offers a secluded holiday experience far from the madding crowd. Although entertainment is available some evenings, this is a ‘facilities lite’ destination for families and couples who are used to making their own entertainment.
The park has its own private beach, but the real draw is the availability of water activities for a nautically inclined family or couple. The park has its own slipway leading on to the Blackwater Estuary and there are many opportunities for getting the deck shoes out as there are boat trips available, including fishing and water-sports.
The park has an outdoor swimming pool, that has facilities including Aqua Jets, Pool Kayaks, and Hoverboards during the summer holidays, and is undergoing a conservatory style renovation in 2017 to make it equally attractive on rainy days.
Accommodation consists of caravans which are self catering, although you can forgo the dishes and have a meal at the clubhouse. There is an adventure playground, but of course the main attraction of an island is its beaches. Simply take a wander down to the park’s own private beach.
Off-site, there is plenty to see and do both on the island and nearby. There’s a lot going on in Colchester, with a zoo, castle and more. There are several activities aimed specifically at the kids, but there are also plenty of cultural and historical attractions for the adults.

Lovely caravan site and surrounding area. The site was quiet when we arrived as it was coming to the close of the season. IT is a lovely destination and the caravan that we stayed in was sufficiently equipped to make our stay a very comfortable one. The caravan was clean and tidy as well. We had a lovely time, plenty of places to have a nice long walk in nature, lovely.
