7 Signs You’re On A British Holiday

Little girl in the rain

We’ve all seen the survey results and newspaper articles, holidaying in the UK is the current ‘on point’ thing to do (that means it’s bang on trend for all those over 22) and so more and more Brits than ever are heading off to their favourite resort this Bank Holiday to enjoy everything that the UK has to offer. Britain is brilliant, there’s no doubt about that with some of the most beautiful and historic spots in the world, but we’re also prone to some of the most dreary weather in the world!

Here are some signs that you’re on a British holiday, spoken with our tongues firmly in cheek of course.

It Looks Like it’s Going to Rain

There’s no getting away from it, the British weather is as unreliable as anything and the forecasters aren’t much better, rarely getting it right. If you’re on holiday in the UK then the chances are you’ve said this at least one morning before heading out.

It is Raining

Yep, the inevitable has happened, at least one day of your holiday is almost certainly going to be rained upon. All you can do is suck it up, grab a mac and make the most of it.

The Kids are Complaining it’s Raining

Children seem to think we have some supernatural power to control the weather, and if it’s raining they’ll almost certainly be complaining that it’s raining, that it’s your fault and demanding you make it stop right now!

You’re Eating Ice-Cream, in the Rain

Sometimes summer holidays are about ducking about and enjoying things between showers, thankfully there are plenty of ice cream parlours and the like to wait out those showers in.

You’re Having a Barbecue, in the Rain

One thing we will say, Brits know how to make the most of things and chances are any given rainy day there’ll be someone on the campsite cooking barbecue food under an umbrella!

It Stops Raining

The sun always comes out in the end and when it does it’s time to head down the beach, build sandcastles, have a swim in the quite-cold sea and enjoy a good bit of British summertime. If you’re really lucky you might even get the sunniest week of the year and it not even rain at all!

You Want to do it all Again

Even in the rain, when you get home you’re going to want to book your next break and that itself speaks volumes about everything the UK has on offer. Even in a bit of drizzle, even on a grey day, we live in one of the most beautiful nations in the world, and that’s why the staycation is king!
