They say that everyone should experience camping at least once. Sleeping under canvas is a pretty unique experience, especially for children but the problem is if you don’t know your guy ropes from your fly sheets, you might find the whole idea of camping rather daunting! Well don’t worry, you’re not the only one, and that may well be why glamping is increasing in popularity in the UK, offering all the fun of camping without any of the hard work.
The name is a portmanteau of glamorous and camping – glamping, and it’s basically all the fun of a camping holiday without the hassle of setting up and pulling down. It’s available at many campsites and holiday parks around the UK now, and the glam tents come in several form.
Haven Holidays are one of the holiday companies really excelling with the Glamping trend and if you stay at one of their locations, Glampers can choose between Supertents, Safari Tents, Yurts, or Geo Domes and each comes with it’s own unique little twist.
Supertents are pretty standard tent erections, but there’ll be no erecting required as everything is set up for you when you get there. Supertents sleep up to 6 people and even come with a sofa for your comfort.
Safari Tents may not come with lions, but they do offer all the comfort of a safari adventure. These sleep up to 5 people and offer a wide, shady wooden veranda for your comfort.
Yurts have been used for centuries in central Asia and these round tents are popular with glampers. Most yurts sleep 4, but if you’re a bigger family, Haven offer plenty with extra bedrooms too, sleeping up to 6 or 8.
Geo Domes are the newest type of glamping accommodation and offer interconnecting tent sections giving privacy, space and fun. Geo Domes come with two bedrooms, but will easily sleep another two people in the lounge too.
