While we all dream of beautiful white sandy beaches, tropical skies and exotic food, but holidays at home are on the increase too, and there’s a very good reason for that! The idea of jetting off into the distance is appealing, holidaying abroad comes with its own pitfalls and problems, and when you look at some of them, it’s easy to see why people choose staycations!

There’s no doubt you deserve a break, we can think of a million good reasons to take a holiday, but here are some good reasons to choose the UK when you decide your destination!

The Beaches – While white sands and tropical climes may be beautiful, Britain has some of the finest beaches in the world as proven by this year’s Trip Advisor Best Beach Awards. Rhossili Bay in South Wales has just been judged as the ninth best beach in the entire world so it seems all you need is a little nice weather to get your perfect beach holiday at home.

Travel Stress – It’s a well known fact that all the good and relaxation you achieve on a holiday is undone by the stress of coming through the airport to fly home. Anyone who disagrees has clearly been so traumatised by the experience that they have blocked it out in their minds (a bit like childbirth). Why not save yourself the trauma of the departure lounge by booking a break at home?

Great Value – The price of holidays soon racks up when you take into consideration all the things you have to pay for, not least travel insurance, passports and car hire. There’s none of this when you holiday at home, and often with many holiday parks it’s a one price deal for the entire family, and without the worry of being overweight on luggage too (although don’t tell dad this when he’s trying to get it all on the roof rack).

Last Minute opportunities – Yes there are last minute foreign breaks, but do you really need all the stress of attempting to get ready for a trip abroad at the drop of a sombrero? With a last minute UK deal you can just throw some stuff in the back of the car and get going!

Destination Wedding Overkill – Does anyone get married in the UK any more? If you’re anything like us, in the last five years you’ll have been expected to fly out for more than one wedding on a beach and if you’ve had overkill, a staycation might be just the answer.

There’s no place like home – Let’s be honest, foreign food, strange customs, and being miles away from home can be an absolute treat or an absolute nightmare. If things go wrong you are so far from home, and if you have children who are fussy eaters, exotic holidays can be a big headache! After all, there’s no beating fish and chips on the pier!
