There’s no doubt we’ve all been making the most of the hot weather and with the sunshine set to continue there has been a boost in British summer holiday bookings! The school holidays are now well underway for many and it’s estimated that over 2 million holidaymakers have already flown abroad (passports willing), but the hot weather means that domestic bookings are on the rise as families choose to stay home in the sunshine.

Hoseasons, one of the biggest holiday companies in the UK has reported a rise in bookings boosted by the beautiful weather, and they are reporting an 11% increase on bookings for the school summer holidays compared to 2013s figures with a reported rise also in last minute holidays as people decide to make the most of the sunshine.

Parkdean has also reported a massive 30% increase on bookings on peak time holidays, and that means limited availability for those who might want to book last minute thanks to the weather, though they do still have some availability at some parks around the UK. The company is reporting a 10% rise overall in bookings, and that may even be set to increase if the weather continues.

Other operators have also reported increased bookings, as investment into the holiday industry is making the UK compete with many an overseas break, and the hot weather only helps! Across the UK much investment is going into leisure activities in many popular resorts.

Traditional seaside breaks, ice-cream and piers is what the UK is often known for but adventure and action holidays continue to increase in popularity with many choosing the UK for the kind of adrenaline-filled breaks that used to be found aboard. Go Ape the adventure company have expanded massively this year, showing the expansion in adventure breaks and smashing the stereotype of sitting on the pier with a bag of chips and watching the tide go out, umbrella included (though that can be quite a lot of fun too!)

Wherever you are going for your summer holiday this year, we hope you have fun, we hope you get a great deal, and we hope the sun continues to shine for a long and lovely summer!
