Park Holidays are currently promoting their lodges for purchase with a 30 year pitch licence. They do have static caravans for sale, but a holiday lodge is something entirely different, and if you have the spare cash, or are thinking about a retirement plan they may be worth considering.
The lodges have open planned lounges, en-suite bathroom, gas central heating and double glazing. It’s not exactly bricks and mortar, but the lodges are still quite substantial, and if the location is right climate-wise you pretty much have all you need to set up home.
Mind you, this is reflected in the price tag, as they start at around £79,995. But at least they are offering a free year’s pitch fees (double check the applicable dates). Buying a lodge is obviously a much bigger commitment than spending a couple of grand on a caravan, and with seasons of eleven and a half months available it’s a first home opportunity, never mind a weekend break getaway. If you choose the right location, for some people this is actually a retirement prospect.
Park Holidays even provide a part exchange scheme for your property. Working with Quickmove Properties they will help you sell your house quickly to release equity to help pay for your luxury lodge. There are no estate agent’s fee, which saves a couple of grand for starters.
The part-exchange scheme is apparently quick and easy, as it is Quick Move who will be buying your property with a price offer based on valuation by two local estate agents. Obviously, you will save on estate agents fees, but to sell a house in this manner may have the hairs standing up on the back of some necks.
Park holidays do also offer finance deals over up to 15 years, but with a property, and let’s face it, at these prices this is a ‘property’ you may want to look around at alternative financing options after finding out exactly what their current finance deal entails, there’s always a way to save money…
