Tattershall Lakes Country Park has a reputation for being a tranquil and picturesque escape in beautiful countryside surroundings. The peace was shattered however when last weekend hundreds of people took part in an attempt to set a new Guiness World Record.
The particular record being attempted was the largest cream pie fight when scores of people turned up at the park on Saturday 23rd August. Of course, these days you don’t get the proper ‘Buster Keaton’ cream pies, they are shaving cream on paper plates, but as anyone knows who’s been involved in one of these it’s a great laugh.
Tattershall Lakes Country Park in Lincolshire was the location of the second attempt at setting a world record, the current record being held by America, when 815 Americans in Arizona created the record in 2013. Tattershall Lakes was set on bringing back a bit of national pride by inviting as many pie throwers as possible, and offering free ammunition to all who attended.
Although the event was well attended, we are still not sure if the park actually broke the record as confirmation is yet to come though from the team of observers. The people at Guinness take their jobs very seriously and all manner of hoops have to be jumped through before a record is confirmed, even for custard pie throwing. We will be letting you know if they made it as soon as we have confirmation ourselves.
The resort itself is a well facilitated getaway, with a spa, gym, clubhouse and a lot more (see the link below for more details). The resort is not exactly exclusive, but as you may expect from a country park, the prices are not at the bottom end of the scale. You can currently book a week there for £230 in a timber clad holiday home which sleeps up to four people.
