It’s the 9th of January, and, I’m guessing that there have been a lot of new year’s resolutions made, and severely broken already. January is financially a long month, Xmas debts have to be paid, and the pubs tend to be emptier, so at least there’s a bit of incentive to lay off the drinking.
But, if you’ve never really been one for much exercise, throwing yourself into a full-on fitness regime can be a bit daunting, and for those who don’t know what they’re doing and can’t afford a personal trainer then an overly ambitious project may be doomed for failure. The problem is that getting fit as an end in itself in the ‘running mill’ form can also be boring. It is much better to do something that ties in with another aspect of your life. That is where an active holiday comes in. You’re hopefully going on holiday anyway this year, so, why not make it an active holiday?
Once you’ve booked an active break or holiday (while the January reductions are still available) then that’s it, it’s booked, so you and your loved ones will be getting out and about for at least a short break. As long as you don’t overdo it, then a break with a bit of exercise will be one you return from feeling both relaxed, and with a feeling of accomplishment (*PatSelfOnTheBack*).
Hoseasons have a ‘Go Active Breaks’ filter on their holiday search page, which features 234 breaks across the country where accommodation also includes access to activities and/or an ‘Activity programme’. Most holiday parks in the UK have moved on since the days of Butlins, and offer more than a bit of ‘Carry On exercising’ malarky by the pool. Many now have all weather sports courts, sports tuition, and great facilities.
The bad news is that some of the big name parks such as Haven, Park Resorts, and park Resorts do not have an active holiday filter on their websites, which means that you have to look through their sites to see which parks have good active facilities (the good news is that we have all their parks sorted by region on this site, which should make your job of finding the right location a bit easier).
More good news is that you’ve still got to the end of January to get a big reduction from the holiday park big names for breaks starting in the spring. You’ve still got a couple of weeks left to book a bargain break, but they’re going fast, so check out what’s still on offer at Haven Holidays, and Park Holidays. Hope you find what you’re looking for!
