Surfing is getting more popular year on year, and not to miss out on the act Haven Holidays are offering surfing lessons at two of their holiday parks in Cornwall. Lessons? What? Don’t you just paddle out and surf back?
Good surfers make it look so easy, but, if you haven’t surfed before, your lesson will be starting on the sand where you will learn how to move from the paddle position to the surfing position. Sounds easy, but there’s a knack to it which needs to be learned out of the water.
Haven are offering lessons at two of their caravan parks, Perran Sands, and Riviere Sands. The lessons cost £28 for surfing or £30 for a paddleboard session, last a half day, and include wetsuit. Their Surf School is open everyday in season, and is run by qualified instructors. More
Cornwall is the surfers’ UK mecca, so it’s just as well that Haven have got two very well located and well serviced holiday parks in the county.
Perran Sands is located in Perranporth and is nestled on a cliff-top with a view over sand dunes that stretch for miles. Aside from surfing there are plenty of activities on offer at the park including archery and fencing, as well as heated indoor and outdoor pools. There are plenty of nearby attractions, and the park has several eateries and a couple of bars. More info.
Riviere Sands in Hayle is an award winning park, and again is just around the corner from miles of sand dunes. It has the same facilities as Perran Sands, and is just around the corner from the lovely St. Ives. More info. You may not want to learn to surf yourself, but want the kids to learn, and as both these parks have a lot to offer you won’t be sacrificing your holiday to satisfy your child’s surfing whim, as there is plenty to keep adults busy too.
And don’t forget, if you want to take advantage of Haven’s early booking offer of 25-50% off holidays and breaks this year you’ll need to book before the end of January to get the reduction.
