Buying a holiday home can be a huge commitment, even if it is ‘just’ a caravan. Shared ownership is one way around the problem, however, tackling the financials may prove to be a bit tricky.
Park Holidays have launched a shared ownership scheme to cut down on the hassle for you. This will enable you to have a getaway which will be available for up to 50 weeks in the year for you and your ownership partner depending on where the caravan is located.
Each of the ownership families or partners can grab a caravan from as little as £3,497.50 per family. Obviously at that price you will not be getting a 5 star palace, however, often the location is just as important as the accommodation.
Park Holidays have 24 parks located across southern England, mainly on the coast, and there are plenty of great locations to choose from. They don’t have holiday parks in Cornwall, but there several in Devon, Dorset and other counties with a balmy climate.
If entering into a partnership you would need to consider very seriously who you would partner up with, it would not be so much of a ‘friends and money’ issue, but it would have to be with someone you know you would not have any problems with when it comes to splitting the holiday timetable.
An alternative would be single ownership and sub-letting, but you would need to do your maths and get some quotes to see how the figures pan out. Park Holidays also offer a letting service to cut down on the hassle of money exhage, booking and advertising, plus changeovers for a small fee.
There are a lot of things to consider when embarking on home ownership, so probably a good first step would be go to the website and request an ownership brochure and DVD, and take it from there. While you are on the site, don’t forget to check out their latest rental offers, as there are still good deals to be had for the summer holidays.
