So you’re set on your summer holiday location and you’ve decided to visit the little bit of heaven that is Wales. It’s like a total break from the norm without having to travel too far, but just because you’re on a staycation that doesn’t mean you don’t want to enjoy some new experiences, and Wales certainly has plenty of those on offer!

Climbing in Snowdonia
So you’ve booked your North Wales holiday and you’re looking forward to the beauty of the Snowdonia National Park. Taking it easy with gentle walks is always an option but the especially adventurous traveller might want to look up climbing operators in the area. Learn your crampons from your gaitors, and learn the ropes as you explore the craggy mountainous idyll that North Wales has to offer.
Coasteering in Pembrokeshire
It’s lovely to see the beaches and inlets from the coastal path but for a different perspective why not try some coasteering? Holy Island in Pembrokeshire is probably the most famous location for this popular sport, allowing you to enjoy the coastline from the sea! There are several companies in Pembrokeshire who offer coasteering experiences, but always make sure you go out with a guide who knows the area and coastline well!
Walking Offa’s Dyke
Because Wales has so many National Parks on offer, Offa’s Dyke is often forgotten, even though it’s an important feature in Welsh history. Thanks to the fact that it runs from North to South, coast to coast, you can pick up the path anywhere along the way and explore at will!
Horse Riding in the Brecon Beacons
Getting at one with nature can often be the highlight of anyone’s holiday and there aren’t many better ways to do so than on the back of a horse! There are several riding centres in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a fun holiday activity that adults and kids alike love. Dare we even say that even teenagers can be dragged away from their smartphones with the cowboy experience!
Castle exploring all over Wales
Did you know that Wales has over 400 castles? From monoliths such as Caernarfon Castle to the tiny fairy tale Castell Coch on the outskirts of Cardiff, there’s all sorts on offer and you can pick a few to visit in your local area, or start your mission to visit them all!
