If you needed any more reason to book a British holiday this summer over a foreign break then it’s the results of a recent survey stating that it takes until the evening of the third day of your holiday abroad before you can really relax and wind down. Most cited this time as the best day of the holiday, showing how stressful travel, departures, transfers and the rest is for holidaymakers!
Travelling is stressful however you do it but travelling abroad can be a real stress inducing experience, especially if you’re travelling with a young family. And if all the stresses weren’t bad enough, you’re often doing them in a foreign country where you can’t understand anyone!
Years ago British holidays were a trip to Butlins and minimum facilities but these days you can hire anything from a log cabin to a holiday caravan and more, the choices are endless and there are so many places to visit. What’s most important though is without travelling so far you induce stress and anxiety, yet you can still have that ‘getting away’ experience.
Taking half your holiday to get over the journey seems a big price to pay to us, especially when you consider the price difference between exotic holidays abroad, and staying in the UK. A week in Weymouth by the beach or a walking holiday around the Scottish Lochs, Britain has such a varied and wonderful landscape you can have a different holiday every year and all in a way that only takes a few hours to wind down from!
Sunshine.co.uk who commissioned the survey have put a positive spin on the results, but a great percentage also confirmed that all the relaxation they store up on the break is left in the arrivals lounge as the stresses of travelling again take their toll.
