July was sizzling, and the holiday companies really felt the boom with record bookings at many UK holiday parks. However, they say all things must come to an end and this week it’s been a blowy, rainy end to the lovely weather with a sting in the tail of the tropical storm, Bertha.
Hurricane Bertha has whipped her way across the Atlantic this week but thankfully had lost some of its momentum by the time it hit the UK, that was no relief for holidaymakers who have had a washout week this week in many UK holiday destinations.
Now people are wondering if the storm signals the end of the summer, and while meteorologists do agree that we have a few more days of cooler weather, we’re also promised some more summer, once the storm passes. No one could fail to have noticed the drop in temperature over the last few days and that is set to continue a little longer, although the worst of the stormy weather has thankfully passed.
Once the storm has passed, the Met Office is reporting that it’s all systems go for summer again, and we’re likely to get plenty more sunshine and sunny spells before the month is out, so if you do have a holiday planned, panic not, we’re in for some more sunshine!
We will see more showers, and the South East is likely to see the best of the weather, leaving the North of the UK a little more unsettled. That said, overall we’re promised a dry and bright August, but you might want to pack your mac if you’re heading off for a British Holiday before the end of the month!
