Loom bands are everywhere, you can’t get away from them. Lately there have been some quite startling stories about people selling dresses they’ve made using loom bands.
Recently a Welsh lady sold a dress made entirely form loom bands on eBay for £170,100.00. And, it seems to have sparked off a trend with dresses being made to order a £650 a pop!
Well, it’s good to see people getting industrious, and making a bit of cash from a bit of rubber, but it’s even better to see people getting together and and working on a project for charity. A group of holidaymakers at Burnham’s Haven Holiday Village recently spent a bit of time putting together a loom band to donate to charity.
The loom band is 5,347.7 feet long which is over a mile, and took three weeks to create. The loom will be donated to ‘Loom to the Moon’ project, which is run by Blue Skye Thinking, a charity who are seeking funding to support research into the treatment of brain tumours.
It’s great to the kids away from the TV and involved in group activities, and if they can learn about charities at the same time so much the better (they need to know that whilst they may be the centre of Mummy and Daddy’s universe, they are not the centre of everyone else’s).
So, well done to the people at Burnham Haven Holiday Village, and we’re probably going to see more of this type of thing going on at other parks across the country. It looks like loom bands aren’t going away for a while, so we might as well make the best of them. Original article.
