Bumper Indian Summer

Park Holidays

It looks like it’s been one of the best summers in years for caravan holiday parks, and with the weather still not showing signs of closing in the bookings are still flying in. Park Resorts is one of several holiday park operators reporting increased bookings year on year, however, of note is that we appear to be getting more visitors from the continent.

And, just as importantly the company believes that many of this year’s visitors were taking their first UK holiday rather than hopping on an overseas flight. The staycation would definitely appear to be on the rise!

Park Holidays recorded a 14% rise in bookings for July and August over the same period last year, which for a company of it’s size is quite a marker. More info. Although August is a peak holiday month, it has also over the years been the month when people look out their windows at the lashing rain and get on the on the phone to book a flight to escape the ‘traditional British summer’.

But, for the past couple of years there has been a definite change in the weather. Mere temporal change, global warming? Who knows, and although we’re hoping that it is not a sign of global warming, the sun is always welcome.

It’s the 1st of October, and there are still leaves on the trees, and people are still wandering around in t-shirts, so it’s no surprise that along with an increase in summer bookings, autumn bookings are also going strong. Luckily though the caravan holiday park operators haven’t adjusted to the recent Indian summers, so their prices are still being greatly reduced to the usual level of previous years. So if you’ve googled the weather and it’s still looking good you might want to grab a last minute break here. Get it while it’s there as the deals are disappearing quickly!
