British Holidays May Suffer As Euro Slides

The British holiday industry has been building up to a bumper season and who can blame them with the trend for holidaying in the UK increasing every year. However, with a recent slump in the euro many European holidays are falling in price and that could mean holidaymakers could save up to 15% on a continental break.

A strong pound to euro ratio could mean big savings for Brits, even when they get to their holiday destination as buying food, eating out and entertaining is also likely to be a little bit cheaper.

The euro is worth just over 78 pence compared with 84 pence this time last year, and that’s quite a slump, offering UK holiday makers real value for money, taking around £100 off a European break.

However, judging by several holiday surveys over the winter, we suspect that many people will just use the savings to take an extra holiday as statistics show that even those who like to take a foreign holiday, also take a break in the UK and it’s likely that they’ll use any savings for that! With that in mind, we still expect plenty of UK bookings this year as holiday parks meet the challenge with some special offers and bargain breaks of their own.

More than anything happening in the currency exchange, the British weather is likely to play the biggest part in the popularity of British breaks this year, so all the holiday parks are likely to be more worried about whether the sun will make an appearance than the state of the euro.
