Once you’ve won an award, there is always the potential to lose momentum and let the crown slip. Ladram Bay in Budleigh Salterton, Devon obviously haven’t fallen prey to ‘laurel slipping’, as they have received yet another award.
This time the large independent holiday park has won a Trip Advisor 2015 Travellers’ Choice award to add to its collection of accolades, which includes the Hoseasons Family Fun Award for Devon, Dorset and Somerset which it has won for several years in a row.
It must be noted that although an independent park and not owned by Hoseasons, it is nevertheless promoted by the Hoseasons website who take bookings for the venue. But we shouldn’t let that take away any glory from the holiday park as Hoseasons have plenty to choose from in their massive portfolio of associated holiday parks.
The winning of these awards is perhaps down to the continuing commitment of the family who own the park to improvement of facilities. Whilst park visitors already enjoy an indoor swimming pool, and entertainment complex, this year also sees a £10 million upgrade of the restaurant and the swimming pool. All this and a whopping 55 acres. The good news is that although accommodation offered includes luxury lodges you can still enjoy the facilities and the beauty of the the nearby private beach, without having to shell out much as camping is also available.
And it looks like their continuing investment is paying off. Like many other holiday parks, they have also seen a surge in bookings made in January, which is good news for the Holiday park industry, but, bad news for anyone who has left their booking a bit late this year. The first week of January saw a 46% increase on the previous year, and the following week a massive 52% increase. This increase however may not simply be explained by the continuing popularity of the park, as it is a trend we are seeing all over the UK.
A lot of the nationwide increases could be in part to some of the major operators offering big reductions for early 2015 bookings, however, that doesn’t explain some of the increases where big price reductions were not on offer.
