If you are thinking of getting away from it all, then Lydstep beach in Wales is superbly located for exploring the fantastic county of Pembrokeshire. The park itself is a quiet affair, nestled on a hill above it’s own bay, just a few miles west of bustling Tenby.
The park has a heated indoor pool, a small arcade, and an entertainment venue. It is also used as a base for maritime activities, including sea kayaking, sailing, power boat trips, and banana rides.
The accommodation at Lydstep Beach comprises large well serviced caravans operated by Haven Holidays, although private rentals are available which can be booked via eBay on our Lydstep Beach page. The park is a not a full-on Red Coat experience, more of a quiet coastal getaway, but with Tenby a short drive away if you hankering for entertainment, or if you fancy a few drinks there is a bus (approx 14 minutes travel time), and taxis are available. Aside from the trendy bars, Tenby is a great traditional seaside resort, some of the town being located within castle walls, a sort of ‘Welsh Jerusalem’.
There is a beach in Tenby, but, if you’re driving there are many more beautiful beaches to visit in the area. A few miles to the east is Manorbier, which is a lovely bay with it’s own castle a few hundred yards above the beach. The village itself is under a preservation order, which means quaint village life, a small hotel and not much going on other than smiling holiday makers popping into the local shop for fishing nets for the kids and a couple of cheeky afternoon pints for the adults in a beer garden.
Manorbier is one of many fine beaches in the area, much of which is part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, which is the only park of its kind in the UK, and as such, you are guaranteed miles of unspoilt coastline. It’s just up to you whether you want to make your visit a laid back one, or take advantage of all the maritime activities on offer in the area. If you do like the sound of the area, but would rather a park with more facilities and entertainment for the kids then there is also Kiln Park which is located in Tenby itself, and has the full range of facilities including a large pool with waterslides and splashzones, kid’s clubs and a lot more for those who like their activities and entertainment all laid on.
