A Survey by insurance company comfort-insurance.co.uk has suggested that families find package holidays too stressful and many of them are ditching the cheap package deal for make your own holidays in caravans and campervans.
According to the survey a massive 68% of parents said they would consider a caravan or campervan holiday over a package deal and cited stress as the biggest cause. Taking kids away is never easy but the strict itinerary that package holidays often come with just makes that stress worse, and caravanning does at least allow holidaymakers to do things at their own pace.
Of those surveyed, 40% said package holidays simply took too much planning, and 20% said that airport travel was just too stressful to even consider a package holiday abroad. No wonder the British holiday is growing in popularity if these 2,000 people surveyed are representative of the entire country!
Of course, caravanning comes with its downsides too and the survey showed that almost half of people thought the packing and the luggage was a complete drag! We can’t have it all, and holidaying on your own steam does often mean taking a lot of stuff with you!
The trend in British holidays is in full swing and sales of leisure vehicles such as caravans, campervans and mobile homes are increasing year on year, a trend that is only fuelled by several celebrity campervan owners, and a whole rack of merchandise along the same theme!
It’s clear that while the old VW Splitscreen campervan from your T-shirt may be out of your financial range, you can have just as much fun in a newer vehicle too, and many people are choosing to do just that. If you do decide to be like a snail and take your home with you, you can still enjoy the facilities at many caravan parks around the UK as many of them accept tourers and campers as well as offering fixed holiday accommodation.
