The sun is shining, summer is well on the way, and for those whose holiday destination is traditionally somewhere south of the Watford Gap, perhaps it’s time to consider heading up north. We all know that the climate on the south of England is a bit more clement, but, there’s a lot being missed out on.
For the sake of a degree or two, you could be missing out on some of the UK’s most unspoilt scenery and clearest waters. Perhaps it’s time to ditch the scrumpy, and head up north for a wee dram.
You don’t have to go all the way to Scotland to get a taste of holiday life that isn’t ‘little England’, but is more wide open spaces, Yorkshire is a great start. Over the past few years the county has become a top destination for holiday makers of all types, from strolling book-lovers, to families, to high octane sports enthusiasts.
Plus, there are the lakes to consider, if you’ve never been to Windemere you are surely missing out. Also on the way up is amongst other splendid counties, the unspoilt Northumberland, one of the lowest populated counties in England, and one of the most beautifull.
But, Scotland is the icing on the cake. And, as the beauty of Scotland lies in its landscape, what better way to enjoy what it has to offer than a caravan holiday with the wilds right on your doorstep. Owing to the nature of a Scottish holiday there are two distinct types of holiday parks, those with a touch of the ‘red coat’ and loads of facilities, and more low key locations. Several parks in Scotland have little more than a laundry room and a small shop in the way of facilities, but for some, this is ideal, no WiFi, no cabaret, just the great outdoors.
