Still stuck on where to book your summer holiday? Well today we’re heading to Wales to explore the landscape and see what’s worth visiting. Wales is a beautiful country and the Welsh caravan parks are pretty impressive too, so taking in the entire country here are our reasons to holiday in Wales this summer!
Of course the big drawback to Wales is the difficulty travelling North to South so for any holiday, you’re likely to have to pick one or the other. In fact choosing between Snowdon or the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline may be the hardest thing about selecting a holiday if you choose Wales.
Mountains, Valleys, Beaches
Ok so that’s strictly three reasons, but our point is they are all so accessible! You can be from a sandy beach, to a picturesque valley or standing on top of a mountain all within a few hours. Although we recommend spreading your itinerary out through your entire holiday.
The Coastline
We recommend the Gower peninsula or Pembrokeshire for some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. In fact Rhosilli beach on the Gower peninsula was voted one of the best beaches in the world by Trip Advisor this year. What more reason do you want?
Over 150 Castles
If there’s one thing the Welsh are proud of it’s their castles and there’s a pretty impressive selection with more than 150 castles across Wales to choose from. While some are in a state of ruin, many still stand today and all make a fantastic day out thanks to the work of Cadw who look after historical monuments in Wales.
Beautiful Walks
Whether you want to follow a coastal path, or head up Snowdonia National Park, Wales is a ramblers paradise with many National Trust trails across the country.
The Food
You’d think being part of the UK that the Welsh cuisine would be pretty standard to the United Kingdom as a whole, but not so, just as Cornwall has cream teas, Wales has Welsh cakes, cawl (A Welsh stew made with lamb and leeks), Bara Lawr (lavabread, or seaweed in English) and of course a nice bit of Welsh rarebit too!
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
Just for the photo opportunity of course! If you’re in North Wales then you really must visit Llanfair PG!
We could think of a million reasons to visit Wales this summer, not least that it’s often not quite as busy as Cornwall. Wherever you take your summer holiday, we hope the sun shines on you!
