As the trend for staycations continues, we’re seeing this reflected right across the holiday industry and that means a boom for many as Britons choose to stay at home over going overseas. Today it’s been reported that now 200,000 Britons love holidaying in the UK so much they’ve bought a permanent holiday let, as sales of holiday homes overseas tumbles by 80%!
Never has a set of figures reflected just how greatly trends have changed, after three decades of wishing for foreign shores, many of us would now rather stay here in the UK, so much so they are prepared to fork out as much as £50,000 on a luxury holiday let.
It seems static caravans are hot property right now with many Britons following the celebrity footsteps of the likes of Wayne and Colleen Rooney and buying up their own little slice of holiday heaven, ensuring they can use it weekend on weekend, year on year. When you consider how much it costs to go abroad this is a great way to get a little home from home in the holiday location of your choice. Although static caravans are the most popular way of owning a holiday home, they aren’t the only alternative, a few holiday home owners are lucky enough to own lodge accommodation, but both offer fantastic freedoms!
Of course the downside to this is bad news for the foreign holiday industry. It’s reported that the number of people owning holiday homes abroad has fallen 80% in the last 20 years as people prefer instead to enjoy a cosier time at home than have all the stresses and worries of the airport and travelling and everything else that comes with heading abroad.
These reports from ITV news this week show that the British Holiday industry is still doing incredibly well and as we reach the end of another summer, it doesn’t look like the trend will be slipping away any time soon either.
