Hoseasons have just listed their top twenty most popular holiday parks, and we’re going to have a brief look at the top five. They have categorised them as either ‘Relax & Explore’ or ‘Family Fun’. Relax & Explore is basically their branding of holidays parks and lodges that steer away from any sort of ‘redcoat’ experience.
It doesn’t mean that you won’t get to use a swimming and will be directed up a long winding path towards a log cabin and a wood chopping block for your fire either. It simply means that these holidays are probably more suited to couples (or families) who are quite happy to create their own entertainment in convivial yet peaceful surroundings.
The other category, Family Fun, is by contrast aimed at families in particular, and although not preclusive of couples, this is an all in ‘barrel of fun’ for adults and kids alike. “Not sure what to do today? Let us take care of it…”

Welcome Family Holiday Park located in Dawlish Warren, South Devon is number one, and is listed as a ‘Family Fun’ resort. There are beaches nearby, it has indoor pools, all season entertainment, and family leisure passes included. Prices start from £179 for 3 nights for the whole family. More info.
Finlake Holiday Resort located in Chudleigh, Newton Abbot is the number two, Relax & Explore resort. With some fantastic woodland lodges it has an indoor pool, hot tubs, and an array of activities. Prices start from £305 for 4 nights for the whole family. More info.
Oakdene Forest in St Leonards, Ringwood near Bournemouth is number three (Relax & Explore), and is also a Relax & Explore resort. The park has an activity programme, indoor and outdoor pools, and direct access from the park to Hurn Forest. Prices start from a very reasonable £129 for 4 nights for the whole family. More info.
Number four is Colwell Bay in Freshwater, Colwell Bay. The park has hot tubs, an indoor pool, and that all important direct access to the beach. Prices start from £200 for 3 nights for the whole family. More info.
Shorefield Country Park in Milford-on-Sea, Nr Lymington is the number five Family Fun resort. It has hot tubs, indoor and outdoor pools, and for exploration it is next to the New Forest and nearby beaches. Prices start from £200 for 3 nights for the whole family. More info.
