About Tarnside Caravan Park
Tarnside Park is superbly located for exploring a fantastic part of Cumbria. Located on the edge of the Lakes, this is a real get away from it all holiday with no facilities on-site other than a bar and clubhouse (with WiFi). It’s also a superb resort for anglers as both fresh and sea fishing are available (NRA licence required).
Accommodation is caravans sleeping up to 4/6 people with 2/3 bedroom layouts. The caravans are pet friendly, and the site does have a small kids play area, however, this is really a break or holiday for families who like getting out and about, and making their own entertainment and new friends.
A nautical destination, the site is within easy reach of both the Lake District, and the coast. Whitehaven and Cockermouth are both within a short drive. The nearest beach is St. Bees which is great for rock pooling, and scenic walks. If you are up for a proper walk, it will take all day to do the Dow Crag & Coniston Walk, which passes through woodland, mines and cliffs.
If it’s raining and you’re feeling active there is an indoor climbing wall 20 miles away at Keswick, but if you fancy a bit of fun sitting down, only 19 miles away is West Coast Indoor Karting, which offers fun for all the family.
Overall, a great location for families who don’t want everything laid on and are looking for a peaceful escape.
This basic caravan site is perfectly situated close to the lakes, this is a get out and make your own fun kind of holiday and we did just that. The caravans are pet friendly so it was made all the more special by us being able to take our little dog with us as well.
There is a small clubhouse and pub which is perfect for the site, we didn’t really use it as we were out and about a lot. St Bee’s Beach a short distance away. Tranquil place to stay.
